Working Principle
The Proximitor generates a high-frequency oscillating current (approximately 1-2 MHz) that flows through the extension cable to the probe coil. When a conductive target surface enters the probe’s electromagnetic field, eddy currents are induced in the target, altering the probe coil’s impedance. The Proximitor detects this impedance change and converts it into a DC voltage output proportional to the gap distance.
Installation Requirements
The total system electrical length (probe cable + extension cable) must exactly match the Proximitor’s rated length of 5.0 meters. Mount in a location protected from excessive vibration and within the specified temperature range. Ensure proper grounding of the mounting panel.
Usage Notes
Operating above -23.5 Vdc reduces the linear range. The Proximitor is fully interchangeable with other 3300 XL 8mm components but must be matched with the correct system length. Verify that the total cable length matches the Proximitor rating before commissioning.
