Working Principle
Relies on the eddy current effect. A high-frequency signal excites the probe coil, inducing currents in the conductive target. The strength of these currents varies with the gap, modulating the probe’s impedance which is then converted to a voltage signal.
Installation Requirements
Route the cable through protective conduit if exposed to mechanical hazards. Ensure the total system length (probe + cable) precisely matches the proximitor’s designated calibration.
Usage Precautions
Do not splice or repair the extension cable in the field, as this will alter the system’s electrical characteristics and invalidate the calibration. Perform regular system checks using a calibrator.
