- Frequency Response: 0 to 10 kHz (-3 dB)
- Operating Temperature Range: -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +350°F)
- Relative Humidity Tolerance: Less than 3% change in ASF at 93% humidity
Material Composition
The probe housing is precision-machined from corrosion-resistant alloys, and the sealing mechanism utilizes Viton O-rings rated for extreme temperatures and chemical exposure.
Structural Characteristics
Features an integrated strain relief and a robust threaded body. The design ensures concentricity and face flatness to guarantee uniform eddy current generation across the target surface.
Working Principle
A high-frequency oscillator drives the probe coil. As the metallic shaft rotates, eddy currents are generated on its surface. The distance between the probe and shaft dictates the magnitude of these currents, which is demodulated into a proportional DC and AC voltage.
Installation Requirements
Install in a clean, tapped hole perpendicular to the shaft axis. Set the initial gap to the recommended midpoint (e.g., 1.27 mm / 50 mils) and verify the gap voltage falls within the linear operating window.
Usage Precautions
Do not apply excessive torque during installation, as this can crack the ceramic coil assembly. Ensure the target surface is smooth and free of keyways or splines within the measurement zone.
