Working Principle The probe generates a high-frequency electromagnetic field through its internal coil. When a conductive target is present, eddy currents induced in the target surface modify the coil impedance. The Proximitor sensor converts this impedance variation into a proportional voltage output, providing both static position and dynamic vibration data.
Installation Requirements
- Mount in 1/4-28 UNF threaded hole perpendicular to target
- Ensure maximum thread engagement of 0.375 inches
- Set probe gap to 1.0 mm (40 mils)
- Verify gap voltage of approximately -10 Vdc
- Maintain minimum cable bend radius of 25.4 mm
- Route cable away from power conductors
Usage Precautions
- Verify thread specification matches mounting hole
- Do not exceed recommended torque during installation
- Inspect probe tip before installation
- Ensure connector locking mechanism is engaged
- Short cable length requires Proximitor to be mounted nearby
- Store with connector cap installed to prevent contamination
