Structural Characteristics:
- Full-height module design occupying one front slot
- Front panel LEDs indicating operating status
- Hardware switches for configuration
- Split front/rear modular design separating external wiring from rack backplane circuits
- Modular design supporting field replacement
Working Principle: The RIM acts as the unified master communication hub of the 3500 modular vibration protection rack system. It bridges the internal rack backplane bus and external industrial monitoring peripherals without interrupting critical machinery protection measurement loops. The front module contains the main processor and communication ports, while the rear I/O module transmits internal backplane bus signals to the front RIM.
Installation Requirements:
- Must be installed in slot 1 of the 3500 rack
- I/O module occupies one full-height rear slot
- Data Manager I/O module occupies one full-height rear slot if used
- Ensure rack grounding is properly established
- Use appropriate cables for RS232/RS422 connections
Use Precautions:
- One RIM is required per rack
- For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, a TMR version of the RIM is required
- The TMR RIM performs monitor channel comparison and voting logic
- Firmware IC must match the PWA revision level
- Replace modules only with compatible versions to ensure proper functionality
