- Industrial-grade electronic components on multi-layer PCB
- Metal module enclosure with conformal coating
- Gold-plated backplane edge connectors
Structural Features:
- Full-height module form factor
- Front panel with LED indicators and RS-232 configuration port
- Rear I/O module connector for RS-232/RS-422 communication processors
- Plug-in design for 3500 rack slot 1
Working Principle:
The RIM acts as the communication gateway between the 3500 rack’s internal backplane bus and external configuration/data acquisition systems. It reads and writes configuration data to all modules in the rack via the backplane, and translates this data into the Bently Nevada proprietary protocol for transmission over RS-232 or RS-422 to external hosts. The RIM also monitors the OK status of all rack modules and drives the OK relay accordingly.
Installation Requirements:
- Install in rack slot 1 (immediately to the right of the power supply modules)
- Connect the RS-232 configuration cable to the front panel port for local configuration
- Connect the appropriate I/O module (RS-232, RS-422, or modem) to the rear connector for remote communication
- Set the rack address using the address switches on the RIM (63 selectable addresses)
- Set the configuration key lock to RUN mode for normal operation or PROGRAM mode for configuration changes
