Functional Features: The module displays system event lists, alarm event lists, and detailed data for all monitoring channels, monitors, relay modules, and keyphasor/tachometer modules. It shows critical parameters including equipment vibration, axial displacement, rotational speed, and temperature. The transflective LCD with backlight ensures excellent visibility under various lighting conditions, from bright control rooms to dimly lit remote monitoring stations. The module supports remote display unit connection through RS422 serial communication, allowing the display to be located up to considerable distances from the 3500 rack.
Structural Characteristics: The module consists of a display interface I/O module that installs in the 3500 rack and communicates with a separate display unit. The display interface module features LED indicators including an OK LED indicating proper operation and a TX/RX LED indicating active communication. The display unit includes channel status LEDs, a new alarm event LED, and a display unit status LED. The keyboard control panel allows operators to navigate through screens and acknowledge alarms.
Working Principle: The display interface module collects data from all modules within the 3500 rack via the high-speed internal network. It gathers current values, current alarm status, module health information, and event records. This data is transmitted through the RS422 serial link to the display unit. The display unit processes this information and presents it in graphical and text formats on the LCD screen. The system continuously updates displayed information to provide real-time machinery status visualization.
Installation Requirements: The display interface module installs in a slot within the 3500 series rack. The display unit can be mounted in a standard 19-inch EIA rack, panel-mounted, or independently mounted depending on the specific configuration. The RS422 communication cable between the display interface module and display unit must be properly shielded. The display unit requires adequate ambient lighting for optimal LCD visibility, though the backlight provides illumination in low-light conditions.
Application Scenarios: Central control rooms in power generation facilities, remote monitoring stations in oil and gas operations, equipment rooms in petrochemical plants, operator stations in steel mills and paper mills, and any location requiring local or remote visualization of rotating machinery condition data.
Usage Considerations: Ensure proper RS422 cable routing away from high-voltage power cables. The reflective LCD module requires ambient white light for acceptable visibility under normal office lighting conditions. Best visibility is achieved under indirect sunlight conditions. LCD visibility decreases with corresponding decrease in ambient light level. The module exhibits acceptable visibility under normal office lighting levels. Regular cleaning of the LCD screen and front panel is recommended to maintain readability.
