Functional Features: This transducer configuration provides flexible mounting options for applications where standard circular base mounting is not optimal. The no-base design with 1/2-20 UNF-3A stud allows direct threading into prepared machine surfaces or adapter plates. The terminal block top mount provides accessible, secure electrical connections. The moving-coil design offers superior rejection of high-frequency impulsive noise compared to accelerometer-based velocity sensors.
Structural Characteristics: The transducer housing is manufactured from anodized aluminum for corrosion resistance and durability. The unit features a typical height of 102 mm and diameter of 41 mm, though dimensions vary slightly based on connector configuration. The absence of a separate mounting base reduces overall profile and weight. The terminal block connector uses robust screw terminals suitable for field wiring. The housing is sealed against dust and moisture ingress for reliable outdoor and indoor operation.
Working Principle: The transducer functions as a velocity-sensitive electromechanical generator. An internal coil assembly moves within a permanent magnetic field in response to mechanical vibration. The relative motion between coil and magnet generates an electromotive force proportional to the instantaneous velocity of vibration. This voltage signal appears across the two output terminals and is transmitted to the monitoring system through interconnecting cable. The absolute measurement reference is established by the inertia of the internal moving mass.
Installation Requirements: Prepare a mounting surface with a tapped 1/2-20 UNF-3A threaded hole or use an appropriate adapter. Ensure the mounting axis aligns with the primary vibration measurement direction within ±2.5 degrees. Apply thread sealant or locking compound to prevent loosening from vibration. Torque the transducer into place according to specifications. Connect shielded twisted-pair cable to the terminal block, ensuring proper polarity. Verify secure electrical connections and proper cable strain relief.
Application Scenarios: Direct-mount bearing housing monitoring on large motors and generators, structural vibration measurement on turbine casings and compressor housings, pump vibration monitoring in water and wastewater treatment, fan and blower monitoring in power plant auxiliary systems, and machinery protection systems requiring stud-mounted velocity sensors.
Usage Considerations: Verify thread compatibility before installation to prevent damage to the transducer or machine surface. Do not install in areas where continuous temperatures exceed +121°C. Ensure the terminal block cover is properly secured after wiring to prevent moisture ingress. Avoid mechanical shock during handling and installation. The transducer requires no external power, but verify that the monitoring system provides appropriate input impedance. Check mounting tightness during scheduled maintenance intervals.
