Working Principle:
The EK-053 filter drier is installed in the liquid line of a refrigeration system between the condenser and the expansion device. As liquid refrigerant flows through the filter drier, the granular desiccant core performs two critical functions. First, the molecular sieve and activated alumina absorb moisture dissolved in the refrigerant, preventing ice formation at the expansion device and protecting the compressor from moisture-related damage. Second, the desiccant removes acids and other contaminants that can degrade POE (Polyolester) lubricating oil and damage system components. The 20-micron filtration element simultaneously removes solid particles such as metal shavings, solder debris, and other contaminants that could clog expansion devices or damage compressor components. The sealed steel construction ensures the desiccant remains effective throughout the service life of the filter drier.
Installation Requirements:
- Install in the liquid line between the condenser and the expansion device
- Ensure proper flow direction (arrow on body indicates refrigerant flow direction)
- Use proper brazing techniques when connecting to copper tubing
- Protect the filter drier from excessive heat during brazing
- Ensure system is properly evacuated before charging with refrigerant
- Install in an accessible location for future replacement
- Verify system compatibility with HCFC/HFC refrigerants
- Follow refrigeration system installation best practices
Usage Precautions:
- Replace filter drier whenever the refrigeration system is opened for service
- Replace filter drier after compressor burnout to remove contaminants
- Do not exceed maximum operating pressure of 47 bar
- Ensure proper refrigerant compatibility before installation
- Follow proper brazing procedures to avoid damaging the filter drier
- Replace filter drier as part of preventive maintenance schedule
- Store unused filter driers in sealed packaging to prevent moisture absorption
- Dispose of used filter driers according to environmental regulations
- Verify system is properly evacuated and dehydrated before commissioning
- Monitor system performance after installation to confirm proper operation
