Materials and Construction
- Probe: Stainless steel
- Proximitor: Aluminum
- Cable: Coaxial shielded
- Connector: Coaxial
- Electronics: FR4
- Seal: Epoxy
Structural Features
- Cylindrical stainless steel probe
- 5 m coaxial cable
- Proximitor aluminum DIN rail housing
- Proximitor coax and wiring terminals
- Probe sealed potting
- Proximitor LED power indicator
Working Principle The proximitor -24 V supply drives the probe oscillator. Shaft eddy currents change impedance; the proximitor demodulates and filters to a voltage proportional to gap. The monitor card acquires voltage to compute vibration displacement.
Installation Requirements
- Screw probe thread into rack
- Face parallel to shaft
- Adjust gap in linear range
- DIN rail proximitor in cabinet
- Coaxial cable to proximitor
- Route cable away from power cables
- Temperature -35 °C to +120 °C probe
- Calibrate gap voltage after power-up
Precautions
- Keep coax connectors clean
- Gap must not exceed range
- Shaft surface free of rust
- Proximitor must not over-temperature
- Store spares in dry environment
- Periodically calibrate sensitivity
