Description
Foxboro FBM12 CM400YN
Technical Specifications
- Module Type: Digital Input Expansion Module
- Input Capacity: 16 independent contact/DC voltage inputs
- Base Compatibility: Requires connection to a base FBM module for backplane communication
- Communication: Interfaces via the Foxboro Module Fieldbus through the base module
Functional Features
- High-Density Input Expansion: Doubles the digital input capacity of its associated base module, optimizing panel space and hardware costs.
- Flexible Signal Acceptance: Accepts both dry contact closures and DC voltage levels for versatile field device integration.
- Hot-Swappable Design: Supports online replacement to minimize process disruption during maintenance.
- Integrated Diagnostics: Provides real-time channel status and fault detection via onboard LED indicators.
Application Scenarios
Extensively used in petrochemical, power generation, and manufacturing facilities where high-density digital status monitoring (e.g., valve limit switches, pump run status, interlock signals) is required in localized I/O clusters.
Performance Parameters
- Operating Temperature: 0℃ to 60℃
- Storage Temperature: -40℃ to 85℃
- Ingress Protection: IP20
- Power Supply: Sourced from the base module via the backplane
Material Composition
Housed in a rugged, industrial-grade plastic enclosure with conformal-coated printed circuit boards to protect against moisture, dust, and corrosive gases.
Structural Characteristics
Features a compact, single-wide form factor identical to standard 200 Series FBMs. Includes a front-panel terminal interface or connection to a dedicated Terminal Assembly (TA) for field wiring.
Working Principle
The module conditions incoming field signals through optical isolation and voltage scaling. It then multiplexes the digitized status data and transmits it to the base module, which forwards it to the control processor over the Module Fieldbus.
Installation Requirements
Must be physically installed adjacent to its designated base FBM module on a compatible 200 Series baseplate. Requires proper DIN rail mounting and adequate cabinet ventilation.
Usage Precautions
Never install this expansion module without its corresponding base module. Ensure field wiring is correctly terminated on the designated TA to prevent short circuits. Verify the DIP switch settings match the system configuration before powering up.
