Working Principle:
The 261A1812P012 UV flame detector operates by detecting ultraviolet radiation emitted during the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels. When a flame is present, it emits UV radiation primarily in the 190-290 nm wavelength band. The detector’s UV-sensitive element captures this radiation through the fused quartz window, which is transparent to UV wavelengths while blocking visible and infrared radiation. The sensor converts the UV radiation into an electrical signal that is processed by internal electronics. The cooling air circuit continuously flows clean air through the detector body, protecting internal components from the extreme temperatures near the burner. When flame is detected, the detector sends a signal to the burner management system or flame relay. If the flame extinguishes, the UV signal drops below the detection threshold within 200 milliseconds, triggering an immediate safety response. The detector can distinguish between actual flame UV signals and background thermal radiation, preventing false detections.
