Honeywell 51400989-200

Product Introduction This remote I/O interface module is a dedicated communication interface unit for Honeywell TDC3000 RIO remote I/O system. Revision 200 optimizes the signal drive circuit and anti-interference performance. It is installed in the HPM main rack, and establishes serial differential communication links with remote RIO I/O racks. It completes protocol conversion between the UCN bus and RIO serial link. It transmits control commands to remote I/O racks and uploads field sampling data back to the HPM controller. It is the core communication hardware for long-distance distributed I/O deployment in TPS systems.

Description

Honeywell 51400989-200

Technical Specifications Backplane Interface: HPM internal backplane bus RIO Link Interface: Differential serial port, BNC connectors Communication Rate: 2.5Mbps Power Supply: 5V DC Power Consumption: 7.5W Operating Temperature Range: 0℃ to 60℃ Storage Temperature Range: -40℃ to 85℃ Isolation Withstand Voltage: 1500V AC Relative Humidity: 5% to 95%, non-condensing

Functional Features It converts UCN bus protocol into RIO serial differential protocol for remote transmission. It supports redundant A/B RIO link configuration and automatic bumpless switching. It reshapes and drives differential signals for long-distance transmission. It executes hardware CRC verification for all RIO data frames and reports error frames. It monitors link signal quality, cable breakage and short-circuit fault continuously. It supports hot swap operation. It stores RIO link diagnosis logs and channel fault information. It limits the fault range of a single remote rack and avoids affecting the HPM main control unit.

Application Scenarios Long-distance RIO communication master interface for tank farm and loading terminal remote I/O racks. Distributed I/O communication for large-scale chemical plant boundary process units. Replacement and upgrade of old revision RIO interface modules in legacy TPS systems. Cascade networking of multiple remote RIO I/O racks.

Performance Parameters Maximum Single Segment Transmission Distance: 800m with coaxial cable Link Switching Time: ≤15ms Frame Forwarding Latency: ≤18ms Signal Amplitude Recovery Precision: ±2%

Material Composition PCB Substrate: High-TG FR-4 multi-layer board with differential equal-length trace layout RIO protocol processing FPGA chip Differential signal drive and receiving chip Isolation components Gold-plated BNC connectors Gold-plated back edge fingers Cold-rolled steel front panel with electrostatic spray coating

Structural Features Standard European pluggable card, installed in dedicated RIO interface slot of HPM rack. Front panel is equipped with run indicator light, fault indicator light, A link indicator light and B link indicator light. Two groups of BNC connectors are arranged on the side for redundant RIO link wiring. High-speed differential signal area is covered by independent shielding layer to suppress electromagnetic interference. Signal isolation components are separated from power circuit to reduce crosstalk.

Working Principle The module receives control commands and configuration parameters from the HPM controller via the backplane bus, converts data into RIO differential serial frames and sends frames to the active RIO link. It receives sampling data and fault status uploaded from the remote RIO rack, verifies frame integrity and converts serial data into parallel bus signals for the HPM controller. It continuously samples the signal amplitude of two redundant links. When the active link fails, the module switches communication to the standby link immediately. All fault events are marked with time stamp and uploaded to the DCS alarm system.

Installation Requirements Insert the module vertically into the dedicated RIO slot of HPM rack and tighten fixing screws. Use 50Ω coaxial cables for RIO link wiring and tighten BNC connectors completely. The redundant A/B RIO cables shall be laid in separate cable trays. After power on, configure RIO link parameters in Control Builder software. Check link signal quality and error count on the HPM RIO diagnostic page.

Precautions Release static electricity before plugging the module to protect differential transceiver chip. Do not exceed the maximum transmission distance limit of the RIO link. Check BNC connectors and cable integrity first when communication intermittent dropout occurs. Firmware version must match the RIO terminal adapter modules installed in remote racks. Strong electromagnetic interference sources such as frequency converters shall be kept away from RIO cables.
