Honeywell 82408485-001 SBLA-III

Product Introduction 82408485-001 SBLA-III is a dedicated backplane adapter module designed for Honeywell S9000 process control system. It establishes electrical and bus connection between S9000 controller rack backplane and different types of I/O paddle cards. It distributes backplane power supply, bus clock signal and communication data signals to each I/O slot. It provides signal buffering and isolation for the S9000 local bus. It is a core rack infrastructure spare part for S9000 DCS used in continuous process industries.

Functional Features It routes power supply, clock signal and communication frames from S9000 main controller to each I/O card slot. It provides signal buffering to reduce bus load and signal distortion. It isolates power domain between controller main bus and individual I/O channels. It monitors bus power supply status and slot insertion detection. It supports hot slot recognition when compatible I/O modules are inserted. It carries status LED indicators for bus power, bus active and bus fault. It uploads backplane bus failure and slot fault information to S9000 controller. It suppresses bus signal reflection and electromagnetic crosstalk between adjacent slots.

Application Scenarios S9000 DCS main control rack backplane signal distribution Petrochemical plant S9000 I/O expansion rack Chemical continuous process controller chassis Refinery auxiliary control rack Water treatment plant distributed I/O cabinet

Material Composition FR4 flame retardant conformal coated multilayer PCB Bus signal buffer and transceiver chips Power distribution fuse and current limiting circuit TVS surge suppression components Gold plated slot connectors for I/O paddle cards Metal mounting bracket fixed to rack chassis Multi-color LED status indicators

Structural Features Rack-mounted flat backplane adapter board form factor. Rear copper trace bus connects to main controller interface. Front gold-plated slot connectors mate with I/O paddle card edge fingers. Internal PCB layout separates power trace region and high-speed signal trace region. Each slot has independent signal isolation barrier. Anti-key structure on each slot prevents reverse insertion of I/O cards. Metal mounting bracket provides mechanical support and shielding.

Working Principle After rack power is applied, the adapter receives power supply and bus clock signal from main controller. It distributes power and bus signals evenly to all vacant slots. When an I/O card is inserted into a slot, the adapter detects insertion signal and completes bus handshaking. It forwards I/O data from each card to the main controller and transmits control commands from main controller to target I/O card. If bus short-circuit or signal anomaly is detected, the adapter triggers fault flag and stops signal transmission to the faulty slot. Fault information is uploaded to the main controller for alarm display.

Installation Requirements Wear anti-static wrist strap before installation. Fix the adapter board to designated mounting position inside rack chassis with standard screws. Complete backplane bus wiring to main controller. Check all slot connectors for mechanical alignment. Power on rack and verify bus active LED steady on. Insert compatible I/O cards one by one and confirm controller recognition. Configure I/O point mapping in engineering software.

Usage Notes Do not insert incompatible non- I/O modules into slots. Keep slot connectors clean and free from conductive dust. Do not scratch gold plated contact surfaces of slot connectors. Avoid excessive vibration on rack chassis. Replace the adapter board immediately if bus communication failure cannot be traced to I/O cards.
