Material Composition Die-cast aluminum housing Quartz glass UV window UV photosensitive detection tube High-temperature fiberglass insulated leads EPDM rubber strain relief seal

Structural Features Short cylindrical aluminum housing. Front quartz glass detection window. Rear leads exit through a sealed cable gland. External 1/2 inch NPT mounting thread. Integral hex nut for wrench tightening during installation.

Working Principle Flame ultraviolet radiation passes through the quartz window, triggering the UV photosensitive tube to conduct. Conductivity change sends a flame present electrical signal through leads to the burner control module. When flameout occurs, UV emission stops, the tube returns to non-conductive state, and the control module initiates safety shutdown within its allocated flame failure response window.

Installation Requirements Tighten the detector into the burner sight port using a wrench, confirm seal. Route leads away from high-voltage ignition wiring. Connect leads to flame control input terminals per wiring diagram. Verify flame response time on first startup.

Usage Notes Water condensation inside the sight glass causes signal drift; install a downward-facing angle to prevent pooling. Clean the quartz window monthly in oily boiler environments. Never paint over the detection window, this blocks UV transmission. Do not mount the detector within 30 cm of combustion air intakes, cold air shattering causes window thermal stress.
