Functional Features Spring-loaded automatic shutter closes the window during burner off cycles, blocks dust and oil fume deposition. Automatic shutter opens instantly on flame detection, no manual operation required. Sealed IP65 housing, withstands outdoor boiler room washdown. Shutter mechanism made of stainless steel, corrosion resistant in acidic flue gas environments. Compatible with all Honeywell RM7800 series flame safeguards. High-contrast shutter operation indicator shows window open/close state during maintenance.
Application Scenarios Flame detection for coal-fired and oil-fired industrial boilers Flame monitoring for heavy industrial furnaces with high dust loading Outdoor burner installations exposed to wind and rain Spare part replacement for rapid window fouling in standard UV detectors

Material Composition Cast aluminum housing 304 stainless steel shutter mechanism Quartz glass detection window UV photosensitive detection tube High-temperature silicone cable gland Stainless steel mounting hardware
Structural Features Robust cylindrical cast aluminum housing. Front spring-loaded stainless steel shutter covering the quartz window. Rear sealed cable gland for lead exit. 1 inch NPT mounting thread with hex tightening nut. Visible shutter lever on the side, allows manual check of shutter movement.
Working Principle During burner off cycles, the spring keeps the shutter closed, blocking contaminants from contacting the quartz window. When the burner ignites, flame ultraviolet radiation strikes the shutter’s UV-actuated sensor, triggering the shutter to snap open instantly. UV radiation then passes through to the internal UV photosensitive tube, generating a flame present signal sent to the control module. On flameout, UV emission stops, the shutter springs closed again, protecting the window.
Installation Requirements Tighten the detector into the burner sight port, ensure the shutter faces the flame directly. Manually actuate the shutter lever during commissioning, confirm smooth movement. Route leads away from high-temperature flue gas pipes. Connect leads to flame control input terminals.
Usage Notes Carbon buildup on the shutter pivot causes jamming, lubricate the pivot every 6 months. Do not force the shutter open manually during operation, this damages the spring mechanism. Inspect the shutter blade for warping annually; deformed blades create contamination gaps. Never paint the shutter blade, paint buildup prevents full window coverage.
