Material Composition Die-cast aluminum housing with corrosion-resistant powder coat High-sensitivity UV photosensitive tube Quartz glass detection window Stainless steel internal shutter mechanism IP65 cable gland Nickel-plated brass terminals

Structural Features Robust cylindrical cast aluminum housing. Front quartz glass detection window with internal shutter. Rear terminal block inside sealed wiring compartment. 1 inch NPT mounting thread. Front panel LED array visible through the housing lens.

Working Principle Flame ultraviolet radiation passes through the quartz window to the high-sensitivity UV photosensitive tube. The tube generates an electrical signal proportional to UV intensity, triggering the internal SPDT relay to close when UV exceeds the preset sensitivity threshold. The closed contact sends a “flame present” signal to the burner management system. On flameout, UV drops below threshold, the relay opens, and the system initiates safety shutdown. On-board gain adjustment sets the threshold for specific flame detection requirements.

Installation Requirements Mount the detector at a line-of-sight position covering the entire flame envelope. Tighten into the sight port, angle to avoid flue gas direct impingement on the window. Connect supply and output contact wires to the terminal block. Adjust sensitivity gain during commissioning, confirm stable flame signal without ambient false triggers.

Usage Notes Sensitivity set too high causes false triggers from sunlight reflected off furnace walls. Dust coating on the window reduces UV transmission, clean the window quarterly. Never install the detector in a position where combustion air cooling targets the window, thermal shock cracks the quartz glass. Cold start below -40 °C requires 5 minute warm-up before normal operation.
