Description
Honeywell FC-QPP-0002
Technical Specifications Quad-core redundant processor architecture; safety backplane high-speed interface; dual Ethernet communication ports for Experion network connection; backplane 24VDC power supply from FC-IOCHAS chassis; hardware watchdog timer; on-board non-volatile memory for safety logic program storage; operating temperature 0℃ to 60℃; storage temperature -40℃ to 85℃; humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing; SIL3 certification, Class I Division 2 hazardous area certification, UL and CE marks.
Functional Features It executes safety control logic downloaded from Honeywell Safety Builder engineering software with deterministic scan cycle. Four processor channels perform cross-comparison on logic operation results to detect internal hardware faults. It communicates with all I/O modules on the chassis backplane to collect field safety input states and output interlock commands. It supports redundant processor pair configuration for high availability. It performs comprehensive self-test during power-up and continuous background diagnostics during operation. It transmits safety alarm and diagnostic data to Experion operator stations via Ethernet.
Application Scenarios Core logic solver for oil and gas platform ESD emergency shutdown systems; fire and gas protection system controller for refineries; turbine and compressor safety protection in power plants; critical interlock safety controller for chemical reaction processes.
Performance Parameters Safety logic scan cycle is configurable with fixed deterministic timing; cross-channel fault detection completes within one scan period; hardware diagnostic coverage meets SIL3 requirements; Ethernet communication delay for alarm transmission is stable and predictable; watchdog circuit triggers safe state immediately when processor stalls.
Material Composition Main circuit board uses multi-layer FR4 PCB with G3 conformal coating; industrial wide-temperature grade processor and memory chips; gold-plated backplane edge connector; front panel is powder-coated aluminum alloy; passive heat spreader for main processing chips.
Structural Characteristics Standard vertical plug-in single-width module for FC-IOCHAS-0002R chassis; front panel equipped with power, run, communication and fault LED indicators; two Ethernet RJ45 ports on front panel; elastic locking latches on both sides; keyed edge connector preventing misinsertion into non-safety slots.
Working Principle After power-on, the module loads safety logic program from non-volatile memory and runs full hardware self-test. Four independent processor channels execute the same safety logic simultaneously and compare calculation results. Mismatch between channels triggers fault judgment and drives outputs to predefined safe state. The module reads field I/O status from backplane bus, executes interlock logic, and sends output commands to I/O modules. Diagnostic and alarm data is packaged and sent to Experion PKS through Ethernet ports.
Installation Requirements Insert the module into the dedicated processor slot of FC-IOCHAS-0002R I/O chassis. Use shielded industrial Ethernet cable for Experion network connection. Configure IP address and safety network parameters in Safety Builder software. Ensure chassis ventilation space is unobstructed. Cabinet protective grounding resistance ≤4Ω.
Usage Notes Only safety programs compiled by Honeywell Safety Builder can be downloaded to this module. Functional safety verification test must be performed after firmware or logic modification. Hot swap is allowed only under approved maintenance work permit. Wear anti-static wrist strap during module replacement.
