Honeywell MC-TAMT03 51309223-175

Product Introduction
The Honeywell MC-TAMT03 is a low-level multiplexed thermocouple input field terminal assembly for Honeywell PM I/O systems. It provides field termination for thermocouple sensors and connects to a low-level analog input multiplexer processor such as the MC-PLAM02. The module supports temperature measurement applications in process control systems and includes cold-junction compensation and signal routing for accurate thermocouple reading.

Working Principle
Thermocouple sensors generate a small millivolt signal proportional to temperature. The MC-TAMT03 terminates these field signals and routes them to the MC-PLAM02 multiplexer processor. The processor scans each channel, applies cold-junction compensation, converts the millivolt signal into a temperature value, and transfers the data to the controller. The FTA also supports fault detection for open circuits or wiring problems.

Installation Requirements
Install the FTA in a Honeywell PM I/O cabinet
Connect to the MC- processor module
Use correct thermocouple extension wire or compensating cable
Observe thermocouple polarity for each channel
Ensure cold-junction compensation area is thermally stable
Avoid routing thermocouple wires near high-voltage cables
Ground shields according to Honeywell recommendations
Configure thermocouple type in the DCS engineering database

Usage Precautions
Match thermocouple type to the DCS configuration
Do not mix thermocouple wire types on the same channel
Keep terminal connections clean and tight
Avoid mechanical stress on thermocouple wires
Verify cold-junction compensation conditions
Replace only with approved Honeywell FTA modules
Check for open-circuit alarms during commissioning
Refer to the official Honeywell manual for final wiring and accuracy data
