Material Composition: PCB substrate: Multi-layer FR4 glass fiber epoxy printed circuit board. Core components: 24-bit ADC chip, precision reference resistor, cold junction temperature sensor, signal conditioning IC. Housing: Black flame retardant PA plastic enclosure. Connector: Spring push-in terminal block with gold plated copper contacts. Internal shielding: Metal shielding for weak analog signal circuit.

Structural Features: Compact C Series module form factor for cDAQ and cRIO chassis installation. Front panel with spring terminal block and printed channel wiring diagram. Internal circuit layout separated into analog sensor conditioning region, ADC conversion region and digital communication region. Back side C Series edge connector for power supply and backplane data communication. Isolation circuit to protect digital bus from analog signal surge.

Working Principle: Module receives power supply from cDAQ or cRIO chassis backplane after installation. Weak millivolt signal from thermocouple or resistance signal from RTD enters front terminal block. Signal conditioning circuit amplifies and filters raw sensor signal. Built-in cold junction sensor measures reference junction temperature for thermocouple measurement. 24-bit ADC converts conditioned analog signal to digital data. On-board processor calculates real temperature value from calibrated sensor characteristic curve, then transmits temperature data and channel status to host controller through backplane bus. Open circuit detection circuit monitors sensor wiring integrity continuously.

Installation Requirements: Power off chassis before inserting or removing NI 9214 module. Insert module into empty C Series chassis slot and lock retaining latch. Connect thermocouple or RTD sensor wires to spring terminals following wiring diagram. Configure sensor type, filter parameter and sampling rate in NI measurement software. Ensure reliable protective earth ground connection for chassis. Separate temperature sensor cables from high voltage power cables. Reserve air circulation space around chassis for heat dissipation.

Usage Notes: Do not hot swap module while chassis power is active. Use dedicated thermocouple extension wire for thermocouple signal wiring. Backup measurement configuration before modifying sensor channel parameters. Wear anti-static wristband when handling module. Check terminal block tightness regularly during maintenance. Do not operate module beyond rated temperature and humidity range. Prevent moisture and conductive dust from entering terminal area.
