PILZ PNOZ S4 750104

Product Overview
The PILZ PNOZ S4 750104 is a compact safety relay from the PNOZsigma series, designed to monitor emergency stop buttons, safety gates, light curtains, and other safety devices. It provides positively guided relay outputs and built-in self-monitoring to maintain safe machine shutdown when a safety circuit is interrupted. The 750104 version uses screw terminals and operates on 24 V DC supply voltage.

Working Principle
The PNOZ S4 monitors safety input channels connected to emergency stop buttons, safety gates, or light curtains. When both safety channels are closed and the start condition is satisfied, the internal safety relays energize and the three N/O safety contacts close. If a safety device is activated, a fault is detected, or supply voltage is lost, the safety contacts open immediately and disconnect the monitored load circuit. The auxiliary N/C contact and semiconductor output provide status feedback to the control system. The module continuously performs self-tests to detect internal faults and maintain safe behavior.

Installation Requirements

  • Mount on a 35 mm DIN rail inside a control cabinet.
  • Use 24 V DC supply voltage for order number 750104.
  • Connect safety devices to channels S11/S12 and S21/S22 according to the required single-channel or dual-channel configuration.
  • Connect the reset/start circuit to terminal S34.
  • Wire safety outputs 13-14, 23-24, and 33-34 to the monitored contactors or safety loads.
  • Keep safety wiring separate from high-voltage power circuits.
  • Select the operating mode using the front rotary switch before commissioning.
  • Verify LED indicators after power-up and after each safety device actuation.

Precautions for Use

  • The 750104 model uses screw terminals and must not be confused with 751104, which uses spring-cage terminals.
  • Do not bypass safety contacts or disable self-monitoring functions.
  • Ensure the reset mode matches the application requirements.
  • Check LED fault indications before restarting the machine.
  • Do not exceed the rated contact current or insulation voltage.
  • Perform regular functional tests of emergency stop and safety gate circuits.
  • Replace the module only with the correct PILZ order number and supply voltage.
  • Refer to the official PILZ PNOZ S4 operating manual for wiring diagrams and safety validation.
