Rolls-Royce RRAIO16

Product Introduction Rolls-Royce RRAIO16 is marine remote analog I/O module developed for Rolls-Royce marine control systems. This module collects analog signals from marine field transmitters and outputs analog control signals to regulating valves, used in vessel propulsion control, thruster control and ship process monitoring. It communicates with main control unit via fieldbus and provides galvanic isolation between field instruments and control electronics.

Built-in loop diagnostics to identify open circuit and short circuit of transmitter wiring. Front panel LED indicators for power, bus communication and channel fault. Robust hardware design to sustain marine shock and vibration. Signal filtering circuit suppresses electrical noise from marine power system. Support online configuration of signal range for each channel.

Application Scenarios Ship thruster control system, marine propulsion auxiliary monitoring, vessel ballast tank level and pressure control, offshore vessel hydraulic valve control, marine engine auxiliary system measurement.

Performance Parameters Precise analog sampling and conversion with low drift. Rapid detection of instrument loop faults. Strong electromagnetic interference suppression for marine power environment. Meets marine classification society shock and vibration requirements. Stable operation under salt fog and high humidity marine environment.

Material Composition Front panel: black flame retardant ABS plastic. PCB: FR4 multilayer printed circuit board with conformal coating. Core components: precision AD/DA converter, opto-isolator, signal conditioning circuit. Backplane connector: gold plated edge connector. Indicator: SMD LED.

Structural Features Rack plug-in module structure, rear gold finger connects to system backplane bus. Circuit layout separates analog input, analog output and bus communication zones. Each channel has independent signal conditioning and isolation circuit. Latch clips on two sides for simple installation and removal.

Working Principle Field 4-20mA analog signals from pressure, level and temperature transmitters enter module analog input terminals. After signal conditioning and isolation, AD converter changes analog current signal into digital value and sends to main controller over fieldbus. The module receives control setpoint from main controller, DA converter generates 4-20mA output signal to drive field modulating valves. The module monitors loop current continuously and sends fault alarm to main controller when wiring failure occurs.

Installation Requirements Install module into rack slot under power-off state and lock latches. Shielded twisted pair cables applied for analog instrument wiring with single point shield grounding. Instrument cables separated from high-power cables and motor cables. Set channel parameters and perform zero span calibration after installation. Ensure cabinet ventilation and heat dissipation.

Usage Notes High voltage signal cannot be connected to analog I/O terminals. Inspect terminal screw tightness periodically on marine vessels. Use anti-static wristband during module replacement. Re-calibrate analog channels after module swap. Prevent cabinet condensation to avoid circuit leakage.
