Description

Technical Specifications Operating supply 24 V DC; serial communication channels supporting RS232 and RS485; isolated signal transceivers; backplane connector compatible with specified Siemens controller rack; front panel status LEDs for power, bus activity, transmit and receive; operating temperature range 0 ℃ to +55 ℃; protection rating IP20 for rack installation; baud rate configurable via hardware DIP switches.

Functional Features Galvanic isolation between rack controller bus and field serial lines; real-time data buffering and frame timing control; hardware address setting through DIP switches; diagnostic indication for bus error, framing error and parity error; support for proprietary Siemens control communication protocols; transient surge protection on field signal terminals.

Application Scenarios Legacy Siemens DCS rack interface cabinets, industrial boiler auxiliary equipment communication, packaging machine retrofit control systems, factory field instrument remote data collection.

Material Composition FR4 multilayer PCB with conformal coating; isolated serial transceiver chips; gold-plated rack backplane edge connector; front panel aluminum faceplate; plastic terminal housing for field wiring; surface-mount surge suppression components.

Structural Characteristics Horizontal rack plug-in card form; front panel carries LED indicators and field signal terminal connectors; rear gold finger edge connector mates with rack backplane; internal ground plane separates controller bus digital ground and field signal ground.

Working Principle The module receives data frames from the rack controller backplane bus, converts parallel bus data into serial differential signals and transmits to field devices. Received serial field data is buffered, formatted and forwarded to the host controller over the rack bus. Isolation circuits eliminate ground potential difference damage between control cabinet and field equipment.

Installation Requirements Insert module only into de-energised rack; set DIP switch address and baud rate before power-up; use shielded twisted pair for RS485 field cables and terminate bus resistors at both physical ends; maintain cabinet forced ventilation airflow.

Operation Notes Do not hot-plug the module while rack power remains active; check bus termination resistance after cable modification; inspect edge connector pins for oxidation in high-humidity plant environments.
