- Operating Temperature: 40 °C to +70 °C
- Humidity: 5% to 95% non-condensing
- Mounting: Trident rack slot installation with hot-swap support
- Certifications: SIL3 capable as part of Trident TMR architecture
Functional Features:
- Triple-redundant input paths with 2-out-of-3 voting for each channel
- Full on-channel diagnostics for wire-break and fault detection
- High noise immunity via optical isolation on each channel
- Module status LEDs and per-channel status reporting
- Hot-swappable for online maintenance
Application Scenarios:
- Emergency shutdown (ESD) input sensing
- Fire and gas detector inputs
- Valve position and limit switch feedback
- Safety-critical discrete status monitoring in process plants
Performance Parameters:
- Fast, deterministic response for safety-critical trips
- High diagnostic coverage (>99%) for field wiring and channel faults
Material and Structural Characteristics:
- Industrial PCB with optical isolation and diagnostic circuitry
- Trident-style front panel with status indicators and keyed connector
- Conformal coating available for harsh environments
Working Principle: Each channel is sampled by three independent circuits; results are voted within the module to eliminate single-point failures. Diagnostics continuously check for open/short conditions. Validated data is sent to main processors via the Trident I/O bus. Installation Requirements:
- Install into a Trident I/O chassis slot; engage keyed connector
- Connect field wiring to the associated field termination assembly (FTA); observe polarity
- Configure input filtering and debounce via TriStation software if supported
- Verify diagnostics during commissioning
Usage Notes:
- Ensure field wiring does not exceed voltage ratings; use 24 VDC supplies with appropriate grounding
- Perform regular diagnostic reviews; replace faulty modules without system shutdown (hot-swap)
- Use shielded cables for long runs in noisy environments
