Description
ABB NKST11-15
Technical Specifications:
- Cable Length: 15 feet (4.57 meters)
- Signal Type: Analog and digital control signals
- System Compatibility: Bailey INFI 90, Symphony, and S800 I/O systems
- Operating Voltage: Rated for standard industrial low-voltage control circuits (typically 300V)
Functional Features:
- Plug-and-Play Efficiency: Pre-terminated with factory-crimped connectors, eliminating the need for time-consuming and error-prone field wiring.
- High Interference Immunity: Engineered with advanced shielding to protect sensitive analog signals from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI).
- Signal Integrity: Ensures stable and accurate data transmission, minimizing signal loss and attenuation over the 15-foot distance.
Application Scenarios:
Extensively deployed in power generation plants, petrochemical facilities, metallurgy, paper mills, and water treatment plants. It is specifically used to connect INFI 90/Symphony controllers and analog I/O modules to their respective termination assemblies within control cabinets or distributed I/O stations.
Performance Parameters:
- Electrical Performance: Extremely low loop resistance and capacitance to maintain high-fidelity analog signal transmission.
- Mechanical Durability: Designed to withstand industrial vibrations and continuous operational stress without connector degradation.
- Thermal Stability: Maintains reliable electrical performance across a wide industrial temperature range.
Material Composition:
- Conductors: High-purity stranded bare copper wire for optimal conductivity and flexibility.
- Insulation: High-grade Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or Polyethylene (PE) dielectric material.
- Shielding: High-coverage braided copper shield combined with aluminum foil to maximize noise rejection.
- Jacket: Heavy-duty, flame-retardant, and oil-resistant industrial-grade PVC outer sheath.
Structural Features:
- Connectorization: Features precision-molded, strain-relieved industrial connectors at both ends, specifically keyed to mate perfectly with ABB termination units.
- Cable Geometry: Multi-conductor twisted-pair configuration to prevent crosstalk between adjacent signal channels.
- Identification: Outer jacket is typically printed with the ABB part number, length designation, and UL/CSA safety certifications for easy identification.
Working Principle:
The cable acts as a shielded physical transmission medium. The internal twisted copper pairs carry the electrical voltage or current signals representing process data. The continuous metallic shield acts as a Faraday cage, capturing external electromagnetic noise and safely grounding it, thereby ensuring that only the pure, uncorrupted control signal reaches the receiving module.
Installation Requirements:
- Routing: Must be routed in dedicated signal cable trays, strictly separated from high-voltage power cables and variable frequency drive (VFD) lines.
- Bending Radius: Installation must adhere to a minimum bending radius (typically 10 times the outer cable diameter) to prevent internal conductor damage.
- Grounding: The cable shield must be properly terminated and grounded at the designated panel ground point to ensure effective EMI drainage.
- Connection: Connectors must be fully seated and securely fastened to their mating ports.
