ABB RDCO-04C

Product Brief: The RDCO-04C is the modern mezzanine / option carrier board for ABB ACS880, ACS580, and later ACS350/510 with RDCU-12C control unit. It serves the same purpose as RDCO-03 but is designed for the RDCU-12C architecture — provides headers for:

  • NAIO-03F (analog I/O)
  • NIOC (digital I/O piggyback)
  • Fieldbus daughter cards (RPBA-01 Profibus DP, REBA-01 Ethernet/IP, MFEA-01 Modbus TCP/RTU, etc.)
  • On some versions, an onboard RJ45 Ethernet port is routed through RDCO-04C to the RDCU’s MAC — enabling direct Ethernet communication without separate card (depends on drive SW version & whether RDCU-12C itself has PHY)

It is keyed differently from RDCO-03 — NOT interchangeable; RDCO-04C fits only RDCU-12C (ACS880/ACS580 generation), whereas RDCO-03 fits RDCU-02C/NAMC-01 (ACS800 gen).

Description

ABB RDCO-04C

Technical Specifications / Features / Applications / Structure / Working Principle / Installation / Precautions:

  • Same passive buffered mezzanine concept as RDCO-03 but electrically matched to RDCU-12C signaling levels & pinout
  • Supports same NAIO-03F, NIOC-02, fieldbus cards (form-factor compatible — RPBA-01, MFEA-01plug in)
  • Mounts on RDCU-12C — typically RDCO-04C is the primary (and often only) mezzanine; second slot may exist on some RDCU-12C variants
  • In drive parameter: after installation perform “Option Board Scan” (param 51.02 = Scan) → drive detects RDCO-04C + attached boards
  • Precaution: Do NOT attempt to fit RDCO-03 into RDCU-12C or RDCO-04C into ACS800 RDCU — mechanical key & pinout differ — will not seat or may damage
  • Handle ESD-safe; power down drive before installing/removing
  • After installation verify option board presence in drive diag menu before configuring I/O functions
