- Enclosure: Robust housing providing IP40 front-panel protection, upgradeable to IP54 when installed in a cabinet.
- Internal Build: High-reliability industrial-grade electronic components mounted on multi-layer PCBs.
Working Principle:
The module continuously samples analog voltage and current signals via internal high-speed ADCs. A dedicated microprocessor executes protection algorithms and logic in real-time. If a fault condition exceeds predefined thresholds, the processor triggers the relay outputs to isolate the fault. Simultaneously, it packages measurement and event data for transmission over Ethernet or serial networks to the SCADA system.
Installation Requirements:
- Mounting: Designed for standard panel or switchgear mounting with adequate ventilation clearance.
- Wiring: Utilize shielded cables for communication and analog signals to prevent electromagnetic interference.
- Grounding: Ensure a solid connection to the substation’s equipotential grounding grid.
Usage Precautions:
- Configuration: Use ABB’s dedicated configuration software to accurately set protection parameters and logic.
- Testing: Perform secondary injection testing to verify protection curves and I/O functionality before energizing.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect terminal connections for tightness and monitor the self-diagnostic logs for early fault detection.
