  • Probe case material is AISI 303 or 304 stainless steel
  • Cable jacket is Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP)
  • Connector contacts are gold-plated brass or beryllium copper

Structural Characteristics

  • Smooth cylindrical stainless steel case
  • M10 x 1 metric mounting thread with standard locknut
  • Integral cable with strain relief at probe body
  • Miniature coaxial connector for extension cable attachment
  • Compact design for installations with limited space

Working Principle The probe generates a high-frequency electromagnetic field at its tip. When positioned near a conductive target surface, eddy currents are induced in the target. The resulting energy loss modifies the probe coil impedance. The Proximitor sensor detects this impedance change and produces an output voltage directly proportional to the physical gap between probe tip and target surface.

Installation Requirements

  • Install in properly tapped M10 x 1 threaded hole
  • Maintain target surface perpendicularity within 2 degrees
  • Set gap voltage to -9 VDC using target material
  • Secure locknut to prevent probe loosening from vibration
  • Route cable to avoid contact with hot surfaces or sharp edges

Operating Considerations

  • Target surface must be clean, smooth, and conductive
  • Avoid installing probe beyond linear range limits
  • Do not allow probe tip to contact rotating shaft
  • Inspect cable integrity during routine maintenance
  • Replace probe if tip damage or cable fraying is observed
