Functional Features The extended 5.0 inch case length provides deep penetration capability for thick-walled machine housings. The 2.0 inch unthreaded length positions the sensing element at the correct distance from the mounting surface. The armored cable with FEP jacket protects against mechanical damage. The gold-plated ClickLoc connector ensures reliable electrical connection under vibration. The probe is fully interchangeable with other 3300 XL 11 mm components.
Application Scenarios Large steam turbine differential expansion monitoring, heavy-duty compressor axial position measurement, thick-housing pump vibration monitoring, generator shaft position monitoring, industrial fan bearing monitoring, large rotating machinery with deep mounting requirements, turbine supervisory instrumentation.
Performance Parameters The probe maintains 3.94 V/mm sensitivity with less than ±0.10 mm deviation from best fit straight line over the 4.0 mm linear range. The DC resistance for the 1.0 meter length is 5.9 ± 0.5 Ω. The system frequency response is 0 to 8 kHz with up to 305 meters of field wiring. The extended case adds 1.1 g per mm of case length to the probe weight.
Material Composition Probe tip is polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). Probe case is AISI 304 stainless steel. Cable is 75 Ω triaxial with FEP insulation. Armor is flexible AISI 302 stainless steel with FEP outer jacket. Connector is gold-plated brass.
Structural Characteristics The probe features a standard forward mount with 5/8-18 UNF thread. The 5.0 inch case length is one of the longest standard configurations available. The unthreaded length of 2.0 inches ensures proper sensing element positioning beyond the mounting threads. The armored cable has a 7.6 mm maximum outside diameter. The probe is supplied with a 15/16 inch lock nut and 9/16 wrench flats.
Working Principle The eddy current proximity probe generates a concentrated electromagnetic field at the probe tip. As a conductive target enters this field, circulating eddy currents are induced in the target material. The Proximitor Sensor detects the resulting change in the RF oscillator amplitude and converts this into a DC voltage output. The output voltage varies linearly with the distance between the probe tip and the target surface over the calibrated linear range.
