Working Principle
The device receives Ethernet frames from a copper RJ-45 port, conditions the signal, and converts it into an optical signal for transmission over fiber. In the opposite direction, it receives optical signals, converts them back into electrical Ethernet frames, and outputs them through the copper port. The fiber link provides galvanic isolation, reduces electromagnetic interference, and allows transmission over much longer distances than standard twisted-pair cabling.
Installation Requirements
- Verify the exact fiber type, connector, wavelength, and distance rating before installation.
- Use appropriate single-mode or multimode fiber patch cables.
- Keep fiber connectors clean and avoid bending fiber below the minimum bend radius.
- Provide a stable DC power supply within the rated voltage range.
- Install in a ventilated cabinet or enclosure protected from direct rain and dust.
- Ground the equipment according to local electrical and industrial network standards.
- Label copper and fiber links clearly for maintenance and troubleshooting.
Precautions for Use
- Do not mix single-mode and multimode fiber without verified compatibility.
- Avoid exposing fiber connectors to dust, oil, or mechanical damage.
- Confirm that the Ethernet speed and duplex settings match the connected devices.
- Do not exceed the rated operating temperature or power supply range.
- Use surge protection where long copper runs enter outdoor or high-noise areas.
- For exact port configuration, power rating, and environmental specifications, refer to the official BLACK BOX LMC009A-R5 datasheet.
