Working Principle: The module receives power and control data from DCS rack backplane. Built-in isolated power supply delivers power to FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 field instruments. The fieldbus communication chip exchanges data with field devices on two independent bus segments. Measurement data and device diagnostic status are uploaded to DCS controller. Control commands from DCS controller are converted into fieldbus frames and sent to field valve positioners and actuators. Short circuit protection circuit cuts off segment power when fieldbus cable short fault occurs.
Installation Requirements:
- Insert module into compatible Foxboro I/A series DCS rack
- Wear anti-static wristband before handling the module
- Use shielded fieldbus cable for FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 wiring
- Install fieldbus terminators at both ends of each bus segment
- Separate fieldbus cables from high voltage power cables
- Complete rack protective earth connection
- Maintain cabinet temperature within rated operating range
Usage Notes:
- Configure fieldbus device list and segment parameters via Foxboro DCS configuration software before commissioning
- Verify fieldbus cable polarity during field wiring
- Perform segment load calculation to avoid exceeding fieldbus power capacity
- Backup fieldbus device configuration after commissioning
- Disconnect rack power before removing module if hot swap is not required
- Inspect fieldbus cable insulation and terminator status during plant outage
