Working Principle
The module connects to an Ethernet switch or hub via its RJ-45 port. It loads specific software drivers to communicate with field devices using their native protocols. The FBM232 collects data, performs necessary conversions, and stores it in the DCS database. It communicates with the DCS controller (e.g., FCP270) via a redundant 2 Mbps module fieldbus, ensuring continuous data flow even if one bus path fails.
Installation Requirements
Can be installed in the field or control room. Requires connection to a compatible Foxboro controller and an Ethernet switch. Proper grounding and shielding of Ethernet cables are mandatory to maintain signal integrity.
