Material Composition:
- PCB: FR-4, conformal coated
- Terminals: Screw terminals rated for 120V AC, 5A
- Isolation: Opto-isolators + MOV surge protection per channel
- Housing: Flame-retardant ABS, UL listed for 120V AC
Working Principle: The 120V AC signal passes through a current-limiting resistor and an optocoupler LED. The optocoupler is triggered at the AC zero-crossing point, providing clean digital transitions and minimizing electrical noise. The logic side sees a clean 5V DC signal. MOVs (metal oxide varistors) on each channel protect against voltage spikes from inductive loads. Installation Requirements:
- Wire 120V AC field devices directly to terminal block
- Common return per group must be connected to the neutral or the other side of the AC supply
- Use wire rated for 120V AC (minimum 18 AWG)
- Keep AC input wiring separated from low-voltage DC wiring by at least 2 inches
Usage Notes:
- Never apply DC voltage to this module — it will destroy the input circuitry
- The zero-crossing detection adds 10ms delay — do not use for high-speed counting
- For 240V AC applications, use IC200MDL741 (240V version) instead
- Always fuse the 120V AC input at the panel level
