Description
GE SKLA36AT1200
Technical Specifications
- Pole Configuration: 3-Pole.
- Current Rating: 1200 Amperes.
- Voltage Rating: Rated for standard industrial AC power systems up to 600V.
- Trip Type: Thermal-Magnetic or Electronic Trip Unit.
Functional Features
- Overload Protection: Provides inverse-time tripping for sustained overloads.
- Short Circuit Protection: Provides instantaneous tripping for high-current faults.
- Circuit Isolation: Acts as a manual disconnect switch for safe maintenance.
- High Interrupting Capacity: Safely interrupts high fault currents without catastrophic failure.
Application Scenarios
Used in main power distribution panels, motor control centers, commercial building feeders, and heavy industrial machinery protection.
Performance Parameters
- Continuous Current: Rated for 100% continuous load operation at specified ambient temperatures.
- Mechanical Life: Rated for tens of thousands of mechanical open/close operations.
Material Composition
Housed in a high-strength, arc-resistant thermoset plastic enclosure with silver-alloy contacts and bimetallic thermal elements.
Structural Characteristics
Compact molded case design featuring a manual toggle handle, visible trip indicator, and standard line/load lug terminals.
Working Principle
Under normal conditions, the breaker contacts remain closed. During an overload, the bimetallic strip heats and bends to trip the mechanism. During a short circuit, the magnetic coil generates a force that instantly unlatches the contacts.
Installation Requirements
- Mount securely in an approved electrical enclosure.
- Torque all line and load terminal connections to the manufacturer’s specified inch-pounds.
- Ensure adequate clearance around the breaker for heat dissipation.
Usage Precautions
- Never exceed the rated voltage or current capacity.
- Always verify the circuit is de-energized using a calibrated multimeter before servicing.
- Do not use the breaker as a standard operating switch for frequent motor starting.
