Hilscher CIF 104-DNM

Product Introduction CIF 104-DNM is an ISA bus form factor DeviceNet master/slave communication card developed by Hilscher. It connects industrial PC with DeviceNet fieldbus network, enabling data exchange between PC application and DeviceNet slave devices such as sensors, valves and drives. It is legacy spare part for old ISA-bus industrial control computers.

Description

Hilscher CIF 104-DNM

Technical Specifications ISA 16-bit bus interface; DeviceNet protocol master or slave operation; onboard protocol ASIC chip; DeviceNet node address configurable by DIP switch; supports polled, strobed and cyclic message communication; operating temperature 0 ℃ to +60 ℃.

Functional Features Offloads DeviceNet protocol stack from host CPU; processes cyclic I/O data exchange and acyclic parameter messages; bus error detection and diagnostic counter recording; supports explicit message service for device parameter access.

Application Scenarios Legacy ISA industrial PC connecting to DeviceNet fieldbus, old production line retrofit, DeviceNet device configuration and diagnostic station.

Material Composition FR4 ISA form factor PCB; Hilscher netX communication ASIC; DIP switch array; gold-plated ISA edge connector; DeviceNet screw terminal connector.

Structural Characteristics Standard ISA long card; rear metal bracket with DeviceNet terminal port; on-board DIP switches for node address and mode selection.

Working Principle The card receives I/O data requests from host PC over ISA bus. The on-board ASIC handles DeviceNet physical layer and data link layer timing, exchanges cyclic data with fieldbus nodes, and transfers received field data back to PC memory.

Installation Requirements Install into ISA slot of compatible industrial computer; set IRQ and I/O address without resource conflict; use DeviceNet certified trunk cable with proper terminating resistors.

Operation Notes Power down PC before card insertion or removal; confirm bus termination resistor placement at both ends of DeviceNet trunk; match baud rate across all network nodes.
