Description
Honeywell 51401583-100 EPNI
Technical Specifications NIM rack backplane interface; supports LCN 5Mbps bus and UCN 5Mbps bus; backplane 24VDC power supply; on-board processor and memory for packet buffering; operating temperature 0℃ to 55℃; storage temperature -40℃ to 85℃; humidity 5% to 95% non-condensing; CRC checked packet handling; supports redundant NIM pairing.
Functional Features It translates LCN messages into UCN protocol format and forwards them to UCN controllers. It converts UCN process variables and alarm packets into LCN format for operator station display. It buffers burst traffic between the two networks to smooth timing differences. It continuously monitors LCN and UCN link health. It supports redundant NIM operation with automatic state synchronization. It uploads NIM faults to LCN operator stations.
Application Scenarios Main processor board of TDC3000 NIM in refineries; bridging LCN upper network to UCN field control network; replacement CPU for TPS NIM nodes in petrochemical plants; redundant NIM pair configuration for critical process units.
Performance Parameters Packet buffer depth accommodates burst traffic from dozens of UCN controllers; bridge forwarding latency is deterministic; redundant NIM state synchronization is millisecond scale; network fault detection is rapid.
Material Composition Multi-layer FR4 flame retardant PCB with G3 conformal coating; gold plated backplane edge connector; industrial wide temperature processor and memory devices; cold rolled steel front panel.
Structural Characteristics TDC3000 NIM rack vertical long card; front panel includes power, LCN activity, UCN activity and fault LEDs; elastic locking latches on both sides; on-board DIP switches for NIM node identification; passive convection cooling.
Working Principle LCN operator station messages enter the board through the LCN interface. The processor parses the message, maps LCN addressing to UCN controller addressing, and repackages the message as a UCN protocol frame sent to the UCN bus. UCN controller upload packets undergo reverse conversion and are forwarded to LCN. The diagnostic circuit monitors both buses; redundant NIMs synchronize state continuously so that a primary NIM failure causes immediate take-over by the standby NIM.
Installation Requirements Install in the NIM rack slot together with the paired UCN modem I/O board. Use 75Ω shielded coaxial cable for LCN trunk. Use shielded twisted pair for UCN bus with single point cabinet grounding. Route network cables away from power cables. Cabinet grounding resistance ≤4Ω.
Usage Notes Do not run the NIM without the matching UCN modem I/O board. Verify NIM configuration parameters after board replacement. Wear anti-static wrist strap. Redundant NIM switchover tests must be scheduled during low risk operating windows.
