Material Composition Multilayer FR4 PCB, differential bus driver and receiver chip, FPGA bus management logic chip, optocoupler isolation devices, current limiting power resistors, TVS surge suppression diodes, ferrite noise beads, gold-plated backplane edge connector, screw terminal block for remote bus wiring, UL94 V0 plastic front panel.
Structural Features Standard eurocard plug-in form factor matching IPC620 rack slot. Screw terminal block for remote differential bus wiring is arranged on front panel. Independent LED indicators for local bus, remote bus and fault alarm. Internal isolation barrier separates rack backplane circuit and remote field bus circuit. Anti-keying notch prevents installation into communication or analog I/O slot. Differential bus traces adopt symmetrical layout to reduce signal skew.
Working Principle The module receives I/O read and write commands sent by CPU through local I/O Link backplane bus. FPGA chip converts the command into differential signal suitable for long-distance transmission and sends it to remote I/O stations through expansion bus. Remote I/O module returns channel status and measurement data through differential bus. The module converts differential signal back into I/O Link bus frame and transmits to CPU. Bus monitoring circuit continuously detects bus current and signal quality, and triggers protection and fault alarm when short circuit or cable break occurs.
Installation Requirements Power down the rack before module installation and remote bus wiring. Use shielded twisted pair differential cable for remote expansion bus. Install 120 ohm terminal resistor at the farthest remote station of the bus. Set remote station address in strict accordance with system design to avoid address conflict. Separate remote I/O bus cable from high voltage power cable. Check remote station online status in IPC diagnostic menu after power restoration.
Usage Notes Do not exceed the maximum 8 remote stations and 800 m bus length limit. Do not connect ordinary I/O module directly to remote expansion bus. Bus short circuit will trigger current limiting protection, and the fault must be eliminated before reset. Shield layer of remote bus cable must be single-point grounded at main control cabinet side.
