Honeywell MC-TAMT04

Product Introduction MC-TAMT04 is a low-level thermocouple multiplexing module designed for Honeywell Experion PKS remote I/O chassis. It collects millivolt signals from thermocouple sensors and performs cold junction compensation for accurate temperature measurement. It transfers converted digital temperature data to the CIOM-A controller through redundant ControlNet communication bus. The module supports multiple thermocouple types and provides open thermocouple detection for each channel. It adopts conformal coated PCB to resist moisture and dust in industrial cabinet environments, and delivers stable temperature acquisition for continuous process plants.

Material Composition FR4 flame retardant multilayer PCB with conformal acrylic coating 16-bit analog-to-digital conversion chip array Precision platinum cold junction temperature sensor High-speed optocoupler isolation components TVS surge suppression diodes for millivolt signal protection Metal film reference resistors ABS flame retardant front panel Tri-color LED status indicators Gold plated edge connector and metal locking buckle

Structural Features Standard CIOM-A plug-in module form factor. Front panel integrates status LED indicators and extraction handle. Rear gold finger connector mates with chassis backplane and redundant ControlNet bus. Internal PCB layout separates weak millivolt signal sampling zone and digital communication zone to reduce electromagnetic crosstalk. Isolation barrier separates field thermocouple wiring side and internal logic circuit. Locking clip fixes the module firmly in chassis slot. Anti-key notch prevents reverse insertion into the slot.

Working Principle Thermocouple generates millivolt voltage signal proportional to temperature difference between measuring junction and cold junction. The on-board cold junction sensor measures internal PCB temperature and compensates the raw millivolt value. ADC chip converts compensated analog signal into digital temperature value. The module logic chip packages temperature data and diagnostic information, then transmits data to Experion PKS controller through ControlNet bus. When thermocouple wire breaks, the module triggers open circuit fault flag and uploads alarm message.

Installation Requirements Wear anti-static wrist strap before inserting MC-TAMT04 module into vacant CIOM-A slot. Lock the module buckle after alignment. Use dedicated thermocouple extension wire to connect field sensors to matched terminal assembly. Configure thermocouple type and alarm threshold in Experion PKS engineering software. Power on the chassis and verify temperature reading consistency with local instrument display. Separate thermocouple signal cables from high-power AC cables in wiring duct.

Usage Notes Do not use ordinary copper wire to replace thermocouple extension wire. Keep the module cabinet temperature stable to reduce cold junction compensation drift. Do not apply AC voltage to any input terminal. Check the conformal coating condition regularly for humid coastal or chemical plant environments. Confirm channel configuration matches the actual thermocouple type before commissioning.
