Working Principle
The ibaFOB-4i-Dexp receives optical signals from iba field devices or remote acquisition units through its fiber-optic input channels. The optical signals are converted into digital data inside the card and transferred to the host PC via the PCI or PCI-Express bus. The iba acquisition software reads the incoming data streams, timestamps the measurements, and stores them for real-time monitoring, trend analysis, or offline evaluation. Because the transmission uses optical fiber, electrical noise, ground loops, and high-voltage interference are effectively isolated from the acquisition system.
Installation Requirements
Install only in compatible industrial PCs with the correct PCI or PCI-Express slot
Power down the PC before installing the card
Insert the card firmly into the slot and secure the mounting bracket
Connect fiber-optic cables to the correct input channels
Use approved fiber-optic cables and connectors for iba systems
Avoid sharp bends or contamination of fiber ends
Install ibaPDA or compatible iba software before commissioning
Verify channel status and link indicators after startup
Configure channel mapping and acquisition parameters in the iba software
Usage Precautions
Handle fiber-optic connectors with care to avoid contamination
Do not look directly into active fiber ends
Keep fiber connectors capped when not in use
Verify compatibility between ibaFOB-4i-Dexp and the installed iba software version
Avoid installing the card in non-industrial PCs with poor grounding
Monitor link status during commissioning
Replace damaged fiber cables immediately
Refer to the official IBA AG documentation for exact configuration and channel assignment
