ICS Triplex T8110C

Product Overview

The T8110C is a core Triple Modular Redundant communication processor module for the Trusted T8000 safety fault-tolerant control system. It features conformal coating (CCoat) covering the entire circuit board, providing enhanced protection against high humidity, salt spray, dust, and condensed moisture. This module undertakes multiple core functions including internal system bus data scheduling, cross-chassis communication relay, protocol interaction with third-party equipment, and Sequence-of-Events (SOE) event caching and synchronization.

Working Principle

Three independent PowerPC-based processors execute the safety application program in parallel. Each processor maintains its own memory and I/O image. The hardware voter continuously compares the three processor states and outputs. A single processor fault is detected and isolated within milliseconds, with the remaining two processors maintaining correct system operation. The conformal coating prevents moisture and contaminants from causing short circuits or corrosion on the PCB traces and components.

Installation Requirements

  • Install in a Trusted T8100 chassis with proper grounding
  • Ensure the control cabinet provides adequate ventilation
  • Connect redundant 24 VDC power supplies
  • Configure IRIG-B time synchronization if required
  • Establish communication links to external systems via RS422/485 or Ethernet

Operating Precautions

  • Monitor processor status LEDs for fault indication
  • Maintain all three processor channels for full TMR redundancy
  • The CCoat version is specifically selected for harsh environments; use standard T8110 for normal environments
  • Replace faulty modules using hot-swap procedures to minimize downtime
  • Perform periodic diagnostic checks via the RS232 port or engineering workstation
  • Verify time synchronization accuracy for proper SOE sequencing
