Structural Features: Standard full-height PCI add-on card design compatible with industrial PC PCI slot. Steel rear bracket carries 37-pin D-SUB connector for all analog and digital field wiring. Internal circuit layout separated into PCI bus interface zone, isolated analog front-end zone, digital logic zone and counter/timer zone. Independent analog and digital ground partitioning to reduce digital noise coupling to weak analog measurement signals. Gold-plated PCI edge connector for reliable electrical connection with PCI slot.
Working Principle: PCI-6230 receives operating power from PCI bus after insertion into industrial PC PCI slot. NI-DAQmx driver initializes all onboard hardware modules after system boot. Field analog signals enter through 37-pin D-SUB connector, pass through signal conditioning circuit and galvanic isolation barrier before feeding into 16-bit ADC chip. ADC converts continuous analog voltage waveforms into digital sampling data and transmits data to host PC memory via PCI bus. For analog output tasks, host software sends digital waveform values to DAC chip, DAC converts digital values to analog voltage signals and delivers signals to field equipment. Counter modules capture external pulse signals and calculate frequency, period and pulse count values. Built-in isolation components block common-mode noise and surge voltage from field circuits to protect host PC motherboard.
Installation Requirements: Power off host industrial PC completely before installing PCI-6230 board. Remove rear chassis blank slot cover, insert the DAQ card into empty PCI slot and fasten steel bracket screw. Connect shielded multi-core cable from D-SUB connector to terminal block module for field sensor wiring. Install NI-DAQmx driver and LabVIEW software on host operating system. Launch NI Measurement & Automation Explorer, run hardware self-test and onboard calibration. Configure sampling rate, input range and trigger parameters inside measurement project. Connect industrial PC chassis protective earth to reliable grounding busbar. Separate analog signal cables from high-voltage power and motor cables.
Usage Notes: Run hardware self-calibration before starting precision measurement work. Use shielded twisted pair cables for all analog sensor wiring. Wear anti-static wristband during card installation, removal and handling. Backup measurement project configuration before modifying sampling parameters. Do not apply voltage exceeding ±10V rated range to analog input terminals. Do not operate the board outside rated temperature and humidity range. Prevent dust accumulation on PCI edge contacts and D-SUB connector pins.
