Working Principle The module communicates with the Quantum CPU through the backplane and reads or writes CPU data table entries. On the PROFIBUS side, the module polls all configured slave devices cyclically at the set baud rate, collecting process input data and sending control output data. Internal data mapping tables transfer data between Quantum memory and PROFIBUS process image. LEDs indicate module health, bus synchronization, and slave communication activity. DPV1 non-cyclic messaging allows parameter configuration and diagnosis reading for intelligent slaves.
Installation Requirements
- Insert into empty slot of Quantum backplane with power off
- Use PROFIBUS certified bus cable with DB9 connectors
- Install 120 ohm termination resistor at both bus ends
- Keep PROFIBUS cable separated from high-power AC cables
- Ambient temperature maintained between 0 °C and +60 °C
- Configure PROFIBUS network parameters and slave GSD files in PLC programming software
- Complete backplane grounding connection
- Match baud rate and station address with all slave devices
Precautions
- PROFIBUS station address must be unique and not duplicated
- Bus topology must follow single trunk line with branch stubs within length limits
- Termination resistor must be enabled at both physical bus ends
- Do not exceed 32 slaves per segment; use repeater for extended networks
- Wear ESD wrist strap during module handling
- Store spare modules in anti-static moisture-proof packaging
- Check slave diagnostic status during periodic maintenance
- Do not connect PROFIBUS cable while module is powered
