ALSTOM ICP232 029.359325

Product Introduction ICP232 029.359325 is an industrial-grade serial communication converter manufactured by ALSTOM of France, designed as a communication accessory for Alstom power protection and control systems. The module performs protocol conversion and electrical isolation between field device serial signals and the internal bus of the control system, enabling data exchange between the upper monitoring system and on-site protection devices. It is a card-type structure installed inside Alstom protection and measurement devices, used in electrical monitoring systems for power substations and power plants.

Working Principle Field RS232/RS485 serial signals enter via terminals; isolated transceivers convert differential signals to single-ended logic levels, which are optically isolated and fed to the communication processor. The processor parses field device frames and maps them to backplane registers; the main CPU reads them over the backplane. Commands from the main CPU are packaged into serial frames and transmitted through isolation to field devices. LEDs indicate data transmit/receive status in real time.

Installation Requirements

  • Insert the card into the designated rack slot with power off and ESD protection
  • Use shielded twisted pair for field signal wires with single-point shield grounding
  • Install 120 Ω termination resistor at the end of RS485 bus
  • Rack protective grounding
  • Cabinet temperature maintained -25 °C to +70 °C
  • Configure baud rate and communication parameters after power-up

Precautions

  • Do not hot-swap the card while the system is running
  • RS485 A/B polarity must not be reversed
  • Field serial baud rate must match both ends
  • Wear an ESD wrist strap during installation
  • Store spares in anti-static, moisture-proof packaging
  • For communication faults check termination resistor and wiring
