Working Principle
The PMC-2 receives motion commands through its programming interface or fieldbus network. The internal 32-bit processor executes motion profiles, interpolation, synchronization, and control algorithms. The drive section converts DC bus power into controlled output for brushless AC servo motors. Encoder feedback is processed to close position, speed, and current control loops. The module can operate independently or as part of a larger motion system, coordinating multiple axes through synchronized motion tasks.
Installation Requirements
- Install in a clean, dry control cabinet with adequate ventilation.
- Ensure ambient temperature remains between 0°C and +55°C.
- Mount on a suitable DIN rail or fixed mounting structure.
- Connect the DC bus and power supply according to the specific model wiring diagram.
- Use shielded cables for encoder, motor, and communication connections.
- Verify fieldbus address, communication parameters, and I/O configuration before operation.
- Ensure proper grounding and compliance with local electrical standards.
Precautions for Use
- Do not exceed the rated voltage, current, or temperature limits.
- Verify the correct PMC-2 model and option configuration before replacement.
- Use storage modules only with compatible firmware versions.
- Avoid operating the module outside its IP20 rated environment.
- Check DC bus coupling connections carefully if multiple units share a bus.
- Perform diagnostics through the supported software or operating unit before restarting after a fault.
- Refer to the official ELAU or Schneider Electric manual for exact wiring, parameters, and safety instructions.
