Working Principle
The transducer generates a high-frequency alternating current that flows through the probe coil. When the probe tip faces a conductive metal target, eddy currents are induced in the target surface. These eddy currents change the effective impedance of the probe coil in proportion to the gap distance. The transducer detects this change and produces a linear DC output voltage. The output includes a steady DC level representing the average gap and an AC component representing vibration. The system remains linear within the calibrated measurement range.
Installation Requirements
- Confirm the probe model, cable length, and calibration data before installation.
- Install the probe in a rigid mounting bracket or threaded hole.
- Adjust the air gap to the calibrated mid-range position.
- Set the gap voltage to the value specified on the calibration certificate, typically around -10 V to -12 V.
- Use only the cable length defined in the calibrated system configuration.
- Route signal cables separately from power and motor cables.
- Ground the cable shield at the transducer end only.
- Mount the transducer in a clean, dry, and ventilated cabinet.
- Confirm correct supply voltage and polarity before energizing.
Precautions for Use
- Do not modify cable length or splice cables, as this will affect calibration.
- Do not use standard in explosive atmospheres without approved intrinsically safe barriers.
- Keep the probe face clean and free from metal debris, oil, or carbon deposits.
- Avoid mounting near keyways, oil holes, or surface irregularities.
- Verify gap voltage after final mechanical tightening.
- Replace faulty components with correctly calibrated EPRO parts.
- Perform periodic inspection of connectors, cables, and gap settings.
- Refer to the official EPRO calibration certificate and product manual for the exact /004-010 + configuration.
