- Industrial-grade components conformally coated for resistance to humidity and contaminants
Working Principle: The module executes control strategies (PID, logic, sequences) in real time, gathering data from FBM I/O modules via the fieldbus and sending setpoints. In redundant configurations, two modules run in parallel, exchanging information and performing bit-matching to ensure consistency. If a fault is detected in one module, the other takes over without disturbing the process. Installation Requirements:
- Mount in a suitable control cabinet with proper grounding and bonding
- Connect redundant power supplies and network links (Ethernet)
- Terminate fieldbus connections to FBM/FEM baseboards per system diagrams
- Configure IP addresses, redundancy settings, and control strategies using Foxboro engineering tools
Usage Notes:
- Ensure cooling and airflow meet environmental class requirements
- Perform periodic diagnostics checks and monitor health indicators
- Before hot-swapping redundant modules, verify redundancy status and follow manufacturer procedures
- Keep firmware updated to maintain security and feature compatibility
