Description
GE 469-P5-HI-A20-E Technical Specifications:
- CT Rating: 5 A Phase CT secondary (Crucial distinction from P1 models).
- Power Supply: High-range (HI) universal input (70-265 VAC, 90-300 VDC).
- Frequency Range: 48-62 Hz.
- Display: 40-character LCD with backlight.
Functional Features:
- Thermal Modeling: Advanced replica thermal overload protection based on actual motor heating and cooling curves.
- Metering: True RMS measurement of voltage, current, power, and energy.
- Harmonics Monitoring: Detects and alarms on voltage and current harmonic distortion.
- Communication: Modbus RTU over RS485 and direct PC connection via RS232.
Application Scenarios:
- Industrial motor control centers (MCCs) utilizing 5 A CTs.
- Power generation auxiliary motors.
- HVAC and cooling tower fan motors in large commercial facilities.
Material Composition & Structural Characteristics:
- PCB: Multi-layer industrial board with optional conformal coating.
- Terminals: High-current rated screw terminals for 5 A CT wiring.
- Interface: Membrane keypad and high-contrast LCD display.
Working Principle: The relay samples 5 A secondary currents and converts them to precise digital measurements. The internal processor applies protection algorithms, including negative sequence detection for phase unbalance and thermal accumulation models. When parameters exceed safe limits, the relay asserts output contacts to isolate the motor.
Installation Requirements:
- CT Verification: Strictly verify that the installed CTs are 5 A secondary. Connecting 1 A CTs to a P5 relay will result in readings that are 5 times lower than actual, disabling protection.
- Torque Specifications: Torque all CT and power terminals to the manufacturer’s specified inch-pounds to prevent hot spots.
- Isolation: Use isolated power supplies for analog output loops to prevent ground loops.
Usage Precautions:
- Parameter Matching: Ensure the CT ratio configured in the relay software exactly matches the physical CTs installed in the field.
- Firmware Updates: Keep the relay firmware updated using EnerVista software to benefit from the latest protection algorithms and bug fixes.
- Alarm Response: Never ignore “Motor Health” or “Thermal Capacity Used” alarms; investigate immediately to prevent motor burnout.
