Working Principle: The module operates by applying a constant current source to the sensor and measuring the resulting voltage drop. The resistance value is calculated using Ohm’s Law, then converted to temperature through the Callendar-Van Dusen equation for platinum RTDs or similar mathematical models for other sensor types. The 16-bit ADC converts the analog signal to digital data, which is then transmitted to the PLC processor via the backplane communication bus.
Installation Requirements:
-
Mount in standard Series 90-30 5-slot or 10-slot rack
-
Requires +5V DC power from the PLC backplane
-
Use shielded twisted pair cables for RTD connections to minimize electromagnetic interference
-
Maintain proper grounding practices with single-point ground reference
-
Allow adequate ventilation clearance around the module
Usage Precautions:
-
Ensure wiring polarity is correct for three-wire and four-wire configurations
-
Do not exceed the isolation voltage ratings during installation
-
Verify RTD type configuration matches the connected sensor to prevent measurement errors
-
Perform calibration verification annually or after severe electrical disturbances
-
Handle the module with proper electrostatic discharge protection
