GE IC610MDL116A

Product Introduction: The IC610MDL116A is a 16-channel digital input module for the GE Series 90-70 PLC family. It is a legacy but still widely deployed module in power generation, water treatment, and heavy industry. It accepts 24V DC sink-type inputs and provides optical isolation for each channel.

Category: SKU: GE IC610MDL116A

Description

GE IC610MDL116A Technical Specifications:

  • Number of Channels: 16 (2 groups of 8)
  • Input Voltage: 24V DC (18V–30V range)
  • Input Type: Sink (NPN) — common per group of 8
  • Isolation: 500V DC channel-to-logic, 500V DC group-to-group
  • Response Time: 10ms (on), 10ms (off)
  • Filter: 5ms (fixed)
  • Current per Channel: 5mA
  • Power Consumption: 500mA from bus
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to 60°C

Functional Features:

  • Per-channel green LED shows input state
  • Group fault LED shows if any input in a group has failed
  • Conformal-coated for harsh environments
  • Locking terminal blocks prevent accidental disconnection

Application Scenarios:

  • Power Plants: Turbine valve position, boiler feed pump status, condenser level switches
  • Water Treatment: Filter backwash status, chemical dosing valve feedback
  • Mining: Conveyor belt rip switch, emergency stop buttons, gate position sensors

Material Composition:

  • PCB: Multi-layer FR-4, conformal coated
  • Terminals: Locking screw terminals, nickel-plated
  • Optocouplers: Industrial-grade, per-channel
  • Housing: Metal front bezel, plastic rear

Working Principle: Identical in principle to the IC200MDL240B but with slower 10ms response time and fixed 5ms filter. The 24V DC input drives an optocoupler LED, which switches a phototransistor on the logic side. The CPU reads the state of each phototransistor during its scan cycle. Installation Requirements:

  • Install in Series 90-70 chassis (IC610CHS001 or equivalent)
  • Wire 24V DC field devices to terminal block
  • Connect common return (COM) for each group to the negative of the 24V supply
  • Use shielded cable for runs over 30m

Usage Notes:

  • This is a legacy module — newer installations should use IC200MDL240B for better performance
  • The 10ms response time is too slow for high-speed counting applications
  • The fixed 5ms filter cannot be disabled — account for this in your logic timing
