GE IP-QUADRATURE
Technical Specifications: Features four independent channels with 24-bit resolution. Supports counting frequencies from DC to 10 MHz for general counting and up to 1.2 MHz for quadrature counting (with higher rates in X1 and X2 modes). Accepts differential RS-422 or single-ended TTL/CMOS inputs via programmable TTL resistor termination.
Functional Features: Each channel can be independently programmed as a quadrature decoder or a general-purpose up/down counter. It includes 24-bit capture/match registers, programmable 1X, 2X, or 4X pre-scalers, and fully programmable interrupt capabilities. It also provides an 8MHz buffered clock output that can be gated for precise timing applications.
Application Scenarios: Essential in CNC machines, robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and any industrial machinery requiring precise measurement of rotational angles or linear displacement.
Performance Parameters: The shortest four-phase timing is 208 nanoseconds. The module utilizes a full CMOS design for low power consumption and supports up to 16 counter channels per VME slot, maximizing system density.
Material Composition & Structural Characteristics: Built with a full CMOS architecture and a multi-layer PCB. The RS-422 differential inputs typically feature socketed 120Ω termination resistors that can be easily removed or replaced by the user to adapt to different cable lengths and signal characteristics.
Installation Requirements: Designed to be inserted into an available VME bus slot. Proper backplane connections and signal routing are critical for high-frequency decoding accuracy. Ensure the IndustryPack carrier board is properly configured for the module.
Usage Precautions: When using single-ended TTL mode, unused inputs should be tied high or properly terminated to prevent unpredictable states. In RS-422 mode, ensure proper differential pairing and avoid grounding the negative input exclusively. Polarity can be programmed to invert signals if necessary.
